Summary of Histopathological Evaluation

Liver:
• Both HFD32 and QF induced hepatic steatosis (fatty change of hepatocytes), but it was more pronounced in HFD32 for both males and females.
• Deposited lipid droplets were of larger size in females.
• Inflammatory cell infiltration was induced to a very mild degree in males.
Kidney:
• Vacuolar degeneration of tubular epithelial cells was observed in males with both HFD32 and QF.
• Inflammation in the renal pelvis region was observed more frequently in the female HFD32 group.
• Glomerular lesions tended to increase slightly with both HFD32 and QF.

HFD32
• Severe; especially macrovesicular steatosis in females (♀)
QF
• Low to moderate; less severe in females (♀) than in males (♂)
Inflammatory Cell Infiltration
• Extremely mild in all groups
Kidney / Males (♂)

HFD32・QF
• Vacuolar degeneration of tubular epithelial cells
• Observed with HFD32 and QF; prominent in males (♂)
Inflammation in the renal pelvis region
• →2 cases in HFD32 males (♂)
Kidney / Females (♀)

HFD32
• Vacuolar degeneration of tubular epithelial cells
• Observed with HFD32; degree was very mild
Inflammation in the renal pelvis region
• →HFD32 females (♀): 2 cases (very mild to moderate)
• QF females (♀): 2 cases (very mild)
Urinary casts
• Extremely mild in all groups
Regarding Inflammation in the Renal Pelvis Region

• Higher frequency and degree in females (♀).
• Potentially more easily induced by HFD32.
