Video Poster Series Archive: The SDT fatty rat Chronicles

Overview
This Video Poster Series is based on a scientific presentation/poster presented at Kidney Week 2017.
The presentation evaluates dapagliflozin alone or in combination with ramipril in the uni-nephrectomized SDT fatty rat, a hypertensive, obese, type 2 diabetic model that develops advanced renal complications and a marked decline in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) within 10 weeks.
After 10 weeks of treatment, dapagliflozin alone improved glycemic control and renal histopathological findings, including glomerulosclerosis, fibrosis, and inflammation, without significantly altering GFR. The combination of dapagliflozin and ramipril provided similar glycemic control while further reducing hypertension and better preventing severe GFR decline compared with dapagliflozin alone.
This content provides an overview of the study background, experimental design, and principal findings for researchers interested in diabetic kidney disease models and the preclinical evaluation of combination therapies targeting renal complications.
