Your groundbreaking research deserves a solid foundation. In a world where age-related diseases are becoming a global priority, access to reliable, high-quality data is no longer a luxury—it's a necessity. We understand the challenges researchers face, from limited budgets to the need for reproducible results. That's why we are committed to supporting your work by providing meticulously collected aging mouse data, helping you validate hypotheses and build effective disease models with confidence.
CLEA Japan provides basic data on C57BL/6J and C57BL/6N aged mice to support research on aging and age-related diseases.
Background and Objectives
The aging of populations is becoming a serious issue in advanced nations, including Japan, with estimates suggesting that by 2050, more than one-third of the total population will be 65 years or older. This demographic shift makes the study of age-specific diseases—such as frailty, dementia, impaired glucose metabolism, and osteoporosis—an urgent priority. We have collected and are now making public basic data from our in-house aged mice, including body weight changes, organ weights, blood biochemical parameters, and histopathological findings, for the benefit of all researchers.
Data Overview
The following data is being progressively released on this page.Various Test Data:(TBD)

At 78 weeks of age
• Body weight data over time (62 to 78 weeks of age)
• Organ weights (liver, kidney, heart, lung, brain, muscle, etc.)
• Blood biochemical parameters (Glucose, TG, T-cho, ALT, AST, BUN, CRE, UP, Insulin, etc.)
• Necropsy findings (mesenteric lymph node hypertrophy, etc.)
Histopathological Evaluation of Liver and Kidney:(TBD)

• Age-related changes (fatty liver, hepatocyte hypertrophy, glomerular injury, etc.)
• Analysis of correlations with functional parameters
Applicable Research Fields
This basic data can be used in the following research fields:1.Construction of Age-Related Disease Models
• For preliminary studies of dementia models• For the creation of diabetes and lipid metabolism disorder models
2.Preclinical Stages of Drug Efficacy and Safety Testing
• For validating drug responsiveness in aged individuals3.Basic Life Science Research
• For analyzing age-related morphological and molecular changes in organs
Data Updates
Data on this page will be updated periodically. In the future, we plan to release histopathological evaluation data on other aging-related organs, such as the brain, muscles, and bones, as well as data on physiological changes under specific conditions.
How to Use in Your Research
You can purchase aged mice bred under the same conditions as those used for the data published on this page. We offer various options to match your research schedule and objectives, including in-stock sales, custom-made "Aging Services," and breeding of your own strains.Access to these detailed, open-access datasets gives you a head start, saving valuable time and resources while providing the confidence to move your research forward. We believe that by providing this foundational information and high-quality animal models, we can help accelerate the pace of scientific discovery and contribute to a healthier future for all. Your research matters, and we are here to support it every step of the way.
