The DBA/2JJcl mouse strain is characterized by a light chocolate coat color and a pronounced susceptibility to audiogenic seizures. These mice exhibit a reduced preference for ethanol and morphine, and male mice demonstrate increased mortality following exposure to chloroform or ethylene oxide.

1909: Inbreeding was initiated by Dr. Little.
1929: Numerous sublines were created, with the 12th subline becoming DBA/1 and the 212th subline becoming DBA/2.
1948: Jackson Laboratory began supplying DBA/2J from an F=26 stock.1932: Dr. Snell received the strain at the F36 generation, and it was
named BALB/c. Subsequently, many sublines were created, and those
1951: NIH introduced DBA/2J from Jackson Laboratory and began supplying it as DBA/2N.
1978: DBA/2N (F=124) was introduced to National Institute of Neuroscience by NIH.
1986: DBA/2J (F=155) was introduced from Jackson Laboratory and production and supply of DBA/2JJcl began.
1988: DBA/2N introduced through National Institute of Neuroscience was produced and supplied as DBA/2NJcl.
