ALY/NscJcl-aly/aly

Ordering name: ALY/NscJcl-aly/aly
Nomenclature: ALY/Nsc-Map3k14aly/Jcl
Availability: Cryopreserved
Not genetically modified animal

Origin

Mice lacking lymph nodes and Peyer’s patches were found in a C57BL/6J mouse colony maintained at Nippon Shinyaku Co., Ltd.; it became apparent that these abnormalities were controlled by autosomal chromosome single recessive gene. This gene was named alymphoplasia and was given the gene symbol aly.

Characteristics

Characteristics

These mice lack lymph nodes and Peyer’s patches throughout their bodies. In these mice, immunodeficiency occurs through a mechanism by which hardly any immune response occurs in vivo, although mature T cells and B cells are present.

Use

 • Various immunologic studies
 • Studies using human hematopoietic cells and transplantation of human tumor cells, etc.
 • Microbiologic studies, etc.

Rearing management of immunodeficiency models

Microbiological control of immunodeficiency model animals should be managed strictly because of their properties. Due caution is necessary against opportunistic infections with normal inhabitant microorganisms as well as microorganisms that are pathogenic in mice and rats.

 • Requiring workers to wear specialized protective clothing that covers all exposed skin and to use respiratory filters.
 • Supply of boiled and chlorine-added water and autoclaved diet (CL-2)
 • Prevention of falling bacteria using filter caps and handling animals using tweezers or disposable gloves
The use of a special rearing room or a special rearing device
